Like a LONG time. Funny enough we actually started this guest room before we even moved into our house (yes, that was almost two years ago). After we purchased our house, the first thing I did was buy this canopy bed for one of the guest rooms. For some reason I have ALWAYS loved canopy beds and I wanted to have one in a guest room!

After I bought the bed, we started phase one of our home renovations and I totally put guest room A on the backburner. At the beginning of 2016 an online interior design service, Havenly, e-mailed me and said they wanted to help decorate a room in our home. Since at the time we were living in guest room B (pre-decor..it did not look like it does today), our master was getting re-done, I didn’t want to turn our future nursery into a ‘temporary’ room; I knew guest room A would be the perfect room to start decorating.

The process with Havenly was actually really seamless. I was partnered with an online designer, I sent her photos/measurements of the existing space, I filled out a style questionnaire and it was magically because just a few weeks later she sent me a cad with design options. After a little back and forth, we finalized the design and she sent me links to order the product! It was a really great experience and I highly recommend it for certain spaces (like bedrooms).

After I ordered some of the items that my Havenly designer recommended, I had our interior designer that did our house put the finishing touches on the space. She sourced lots of different fabrics and we finally decided to do a blue and white repeat throughout the space. She had the bedskirt, drapes, bolster and couch pillow all made to really tie together the space while also making it cohesive to our home.

One of the most important things to me when it comes to guest rooms in our house is that it is comfortable for whomever is staying it in. To me, there is nothing worse than staying with someone and their master bedroom is done to the nines and the guest room is cold. I want everyone who stays with us to feel like they are right at home and are staying in just as wonderful of a space as the rest of the house.

I know I have said this about all the rooms in our house but I really do love the way guest room A turned out. It’s such a relaxing space and I hope all of our guests love it as much as I do.
