It has been so much fun putting our personal touch on every inch of this house but I would be lying if I said I was not so thankful that we are finally done with the house.

It might sound silly saying this but it is SO weird walking in our house and literally nothing relating to decor/renovations needs to be done. It has been so wonderful just ‘living’ and enjoying our home that we fell in love with at the end of 2015.

Besides the before and after of a powder bathroom that I shared on the blog last year (you can see that full post here), I really have not done the best job at keeping you all updated on the progress of our home renovations but honestly that is because I was waiting until I had before and afters. Plus, we all know that great things take time ;).

This jack and jill bathroom is located upstairs and connects our ‘guest room A’ to my husbands home office. As you can see from the before photo, a little girl used this bathroom before and totally honest, the bathroom was adorable and certain elements were great but it really did not go with our ‘vibe’ for the rest of the house.

Thankfully, the previous owners picked out beautiful marble countertops, great hexagon marble tile and pretty fixtures; so we weren’t starting totally from scratch. The first things we had done was the wallpaper taken down, the mirror removed, the pendants that were above the sink removed and replaced with canned lighting and the hardware taken off.

After that; we decided to have the existing subway tile replaced with a polished subway tile and added a sliding glass door. After those things were done crown molding was added, the cabinets were re-painted, walls were painted, the full wall mirror was added and of course we couldn’t have the bathroom be complete without in mirror sconces (my favorite).

Yes, it was quite a ‘list’ of things we had done to get to the point of completion and yes it did take time (so many subs…painters, electricians, tile guys, mirror guys..you get it) but the project really turned out better than we anticipated. It’s such a calm and clean space that our guests have really enjoyed using. I will say, one of the most important things for when we were having bathrooms/guest rooms redone was making sure that they were up to our standards. By that I mean, I could use them daily in our house. I’ve stayed in houses before where you walk into the master bathroom and are BLOWN away by how beautiful they are but then you go to your guest room and it’s a little…well meh. I love knowing that when our guests stay with us, they have a comfortable and quite space they can relax in!

This guest room A bathroom renovation was really a fun project and I cannot wait to share more bits and pieces from around our house!
