I cannot believe that in just a little under 8 weeks we will have lived in our home for a year. A year! Wow, what a year it has been. While it has really flown by, looking back at EVERYTHING that has gone on (and things that are still on the list), it really as been a minute.

Since we moved into the house, I have tried to share bits along the way. I shared the bed we picked for our master bedroom in this post, the bedding in our master bedroom here and snippets of some of the Gray Malin art we have around our house here. Besides this before and after post of our powder bathroom (probably one of my favorite things ever), this dining room post reveal is my second ‘full reveal’ of a completed space in our home.

The dining room is one of my favorite spaces. When we met with our interior designer, Cindy Sontag, about what we wanted out of our formal dining room, before I even mentioned that I wanted blue and white (duh), she really emphasized how the formal dining room is the jewelry box of the home. Like anything Cindy Sontag says when it comes to her design decisions, I just go with it…because we are literally obsessed with everything she has done in our house thus far!

Thankfully our dining room did not require knocking down walls or anything really crazy. The biggest thing and the design decision that made such a difference was going with grasscloth for the walls. I will say we did not realize what an ordeal grasscloth was (or the cost), until afterwards but it really was worth it because it’s so beautiful and really warms up the space. After the grasscloth, the next two decisions were the chandelier and the dining table. Besides the dining room chairs (that took 7 months to have made); everything from our first piece that we ever got from Gray Malin, to a vintage bar cart and the ginger jars that we got from Wisteria just naturally fell into place. Oh and the finishing touch to the room??? This large wall mirror from Wistera. Even though we have lots of windows and natural light, it’s amazing what a difference the large venetian mirror made in the space!

Even though the dining room has taken 10 months to finally come together, the end result has made it worth the wait. I hope you all like our dining room as much as we do and I cannot wait to complete other spaces and continue to share them with you all.

p.s. Have you checked out my new ‘shop the latest’ page that launched yesterday? It’s very similar to a journal and you can get more updates on what I am doing and wearing. I think you all will enjoy this more ‘playful’ side to my blog. Click here to see it and feel free to let me know what you think!
