Now that we are 3 months in with baby Ralph (you can read a 3 month Baby Ralph update here), I felt like it would be a good time to share what things/products/etc we love using with him! From the beginning I decided that ‘less is more’ was the way that we were going to go. I didn’t want to have too many baby things just laying around the house, especially when we didn’t know what he would like or dislike. Plus, things like a high chair are completely unnecessary at this point, so why purchase before his arrival and just let it collect dust! Also, services like Amazon make it super easy to have things we might have ‘forgotten’ with just the tap of a button! See below for my favorite things that we use ALL the time.
Ralph’s Favorites
- Car Seat: We have loved having this car seat because it is the most lightweight one on the market. As Ralph continues to get heavier, I know it will be less of a chore to carry him around in such a lightweight carseat!
- Baby Carrier: I used this baby carrier for Ralph’s first flight and it was so easy to use and he loved it.
- Play Mat: I actually ordered this play mat when Ralph was just a few days old, so we could start tummy time ASAP! This play mat is super soft and he loves to play on it.
- Wooden Play Gym: We put this wooden play gym on top of the play mat and Ralph loves to swing at the figures.
- Changing Pad Liners: We put these changing pad liners below him in his crib (if he spits up we just throw in the wash vs. changing the sheets all the time) and also on top of his changing pad!
- Baby Monitor: This has been the biggest nightmare. We ordered this basic baby monitor and LOVE it but unfortunately the range totally sucks and the only place it doesn’t work in the house is our bedroom (what are the odds), so we ALSO have this baby monitor. I love this one because I can watch him from anywhere, plus it runs on wifi so I can use it in our bedroom!
- Baby Bibs: We love these!
- Burp Cloths: We do have pretty burp cloths that have been given to us by friends but we actually use these ‘cloth diapers’ on the daily as burp clothes. They are cheap, durable and get the job done!
- We have traveled with this stroller/car seat and it is literally the best thing ever invented. Worth every penny.
- Ralph sleeps in these onesies every night because they are so soft and lightweight!
- Nail File: Ralph loves it and it doesn’t scare me to do his nails!
- Swaddle: These are literally the best things ever. We swaddle him for every nap and then at night we wrap him in two of these so he cannot escape and wake himself up!
- Pacifier: These are my favorite.
- Crib Alarm: If Ralph does not move/breath for more than 15 seconds an alarm goes off. This really is amazing.
- Wipes: These are great.
- Diaper Bag: I have been using this tote bag the entire time but any tote will work (not a fan of diaper bags), I would rather spend money on a tote that I can carry with our without baby stuff!
- Since I didn’t get an ‘actual’ baby bag, I have been using a larger make up bag to put all of Ralph’s things for ‘days out’. It’s super easy to transfer and whenever we are in a rush I can just throw ‘his bag’ in whatever bag I am carrying that day!
- Day Jammies: we love putting him in these footie pajamas, they are so soft!
- DockATot: We love putting Ralph in this in the middle of the bed when he naps. Some days I even put it on the floor in our bathroom while I am getting ready!
- We use this boppy pillow for Ralph ALL the time. We put it on the couch and sometimes on the breakfast table when Wade and I are eating dinner! It’s been so great to have the last few months.
- We use these bottles to feed Ralph. They are very easy to clean and he seems to love them.
- Formula Dispenser: I have used this one and have loved it. It’s super compact and the ‘larger’ dispenser holds up to 4 bottles worth of formula!
- This is the baby formula we use, Ralph has not had any problems with it.
- We use these diapers and at night we actually double diaper him so he doesn’t leak and wake himself up!
- This is our favorite diaper rash cream.
- This is what we put in our bathtub to give Ralph a bath in (at first we put it in our sink).
- We use this hair and body wash on Ralph. We have used it from the beginning and I still have a lot left in the bottle.
- We use this syringe to get things out of Ralph’s nose.
- This is the lotion that we use.
- Detergent: We all use this one.
- I have this baby seat and I do love it because it is not an eye sore in our living room but we have only used it three times. Could have defiantly held off on purchasing this prior to Ralph’s arrival.
- We use this stroller when running errands and this stroller when strolling around the neighborhood.
- Apps: We use the app Baby Connect to track Ralph’s eating. It has really helped keep track of what he is taking in at each feed. If you take your babies current weight and multiply it by 2.3, it equals the amount of ounces your baby should be in taking each day. For us, we know if he gets to that ‘magic’ number within his 5 feeds, he will sleep soundly through the night!
- Clothing: Okay, as into clothes as I am, Ralph wears a lot of jammies when we are around the house. That being said, he does have so many cute outfits that I have gotten or friends have given me. My favorite place to get him a ‘special’ outfit is JoJo Mommy and Layette. These two places are in Dallas and have the best variety!
- Monograms: In Dallas we use SB Monograms, she is the best!
Okay, I think this is everything for now. I will do an update in a couple of months with new things we are ‘adding’ along the way! I will be doing a post on baby Ralph’s schedule soon but in the mean time let me know if you have any questions, I am more than happy to answer!
OBSESSED with this post! I’m pregnant with our first currently and you just saved me a million hours reading all the reviews online. Thank you thank you!! I could not agree more about the less is more! Baby Ralph is so sweet…I’m praying for an easy adjustment too! And hey, don’t let the internet trolls get to you…if it works for y’all then you’re doing it right!!! Xoxo
yay! so happy to hear this was so helpful!! xx
The dock-a-tot was our most useful baby item! I enjoyed your list but man are some of those things mad expensive. Like the beautiful Tom Ford tote 😉
I am struggling with the diaper bag thing as well, I don’t like any of them and would rather spend money on something I do like and can use as a diaper bag. How do you keep things organized in a large tote? You said you use a large makeup bag, but what all goes into that makeup bag?
Totally agree! Plus, the baby isn’t always with you, so why not treat yourself to something that you can use with or without the baby!
I’ll do a post on what exactly I use — but normally we are not gone for more than a few hours, so all i have in my ‘baby make up bag’ is diapers (probably 3), wipes (in a ziplock baggie bc you really don’t need that many), diaper rash cream (travel size), formula powder (rationed in those things I linked above), an extra onesie, a burp cloth and a bottle with water in it!
They really don’t need that much, so there is nooooo reason to carry around a bunch of extra stuff you don’t need!
Love those footie pajamas! That’s the only thing my seven week old wears except our are carter’s brand. I don’t like to put stuff over his head. I prefer the snap buttons to the zipper cause I get nervous I will zip him. Buttons to me make it easier to check the diaper too. My favorite splurge item is a bib I got as a baby gift from three Martha’s. I went and bought two more cause they save me in laundry!
This post is so helpful! I’m pregnant with our first and pretty overwhelmed by all the “stuff” you need for baby. I really love that you mix higher end items with essential and practical everyday items.
Hello!!!! I’m wondering when you will be updating on Ralph’s favorite things?! Thank you much and love your blog!!!!!
Soon!!!!!!
Hi! I know this is an older post but I wanted to see if your crib alarm gave many false positive alerts? I have a 12 week old boy who I swore would sleep in his own crib by now but I still find myself staring at him and checking on him in his bassinet multiple times a night. I am too afraid to have him in his own room. I am also worried that if the crib alarm goes off a lot that I might continue to check on him regardless…can you tell I am an over paranoid, first time mom? Lol!Trying to decide if the crib alarm is worth the investment. Thank you for your post and insight!
I was the SAME way!!! We only had 1 false alarm and that was probably when he was 9 months old…really it just meant that he was too big for the alarm because he moved so much while he slept! Crib alarm is worth it; it gave us such peace of mind!
Hi!!! Can you link your baby gates?
Hi!
